We talk to the visionary Dr Pratima Raichur about Ayurveda and beauty.
New York City
Hardworking, compassionate, perceptive, spiritual and feminine
My grandfather always told me \"Learn from the past and live in the present\".
New York City has this endless, inspiring energy that you cannot find in any other city or place in the world. It is bursting with passion, hopes and dreams and continues to inspire and uplift me everyday. It is a city that truly never sleeps.
Style does not have to do with trends or what is the newest \"it\" accessory. It is much more than that, it is elegance and confidence, it is something that makes you feel and look beautiful. And just like your mood, it is something that can change and evolve from day to day.
One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my grandchildren - it is so amazing to witness how wise and ambitious these little people are! Of course, I also love to continue learning about Ayurveda and new ways to heal. It is such a vast subject it is almost impossible to not learn something new every time I take the time to study or attend a seminar.
Saris. I have a collection that I have gathered over my entire life, from all different places, all attached to their own memories. I wear them every day, they always make me feel elegant no matter the occasion.
My emerald necklace that my husband gave me on our first anniversary.
India! I love going home and reliving all the beautiful memories I have from there.
My PRATIMA Anti-Stress Aroma Oil. It is amazing at easing any tension or anxieties that can come with travel, helping to reach a place of relaxation and calm.
Balance is something that is integral to our health, and often times in our society, it is overlooked. It means maintaining equilibrium within our bodies and minds. And it is important to not push ourselves too hard or constantly compare ourselves to others, as we all have a different level of balance and equilibrium. When we are in balance, we are healthy and happy, truly glowing from the inside out.
I like to sit and read beautiful poetry... but currently I am reading a book by Stephen Hawking. I find his work intellectually stimulating and I greatly admire his incredible perseverance, despite all of the challenges he has faced in life.
I have 4!
1. Pass along the vedic philosophies to the next generation, including my grandchildren
2. Complete my next book
3. See my PRATIMA line grow and continue to heal people all over the world!
4. Achieve complete self-realization, which is a state of \"samadhi\" or bliss
The letters from my mother
My personal things - wallet, phone, keys, my Laskmi yantra, photos of my grandkids and my guru, my PRATIMA Ratrani Rose Replenishing Mist and my favorite natural burgundy lipstick. I never leave the house without it.
Swami Vivekananda - one of the most brilliant philosophers of all time.
Personally, I am looking forward to deepening my level of meditation and finding absolute acceptance in everything in life. In my professional life, I look forward to expanding PRATIMA in other ways and to bring the world of Ayurveda to more and more people. I'm not retiring yet!
